Real-World InspirationNeoholothele incei is a small theraphosid from Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela, commonly called the Trinidad olive tarantula. Adults are usually olive, bronze, gray-brown, or golden-brown with darker abdominal patterning and fine contrasting lines, and they are prolific web builders that may hide most of the body within silk-lined tunnels. The species is relatively small compared with many popular display tarantulas and can move very quickly when disturbed. Current World Spider Catalog treatment places the species in Neoholothele, reflecting taxonomic changes from older names used in the hobby. ITIS also recognizes the Trinidad olive common name. Color varies with molt, lighting, sex, and captive line, including established 'gold' hobby forms, so color alone is not a reliable species diagnosis. Provenance and current taxonomy should accompany the trade name.
